It feels like X-mas morning…again!!!! No its not Obama’s State of the Union address I’ll looking forward to but the real ‘state of the union’ address by Steve Jobs. Today he’s going to reveal the new iPad, iSlate or whatever he’s going to call it. All I know is that I’m buying it first day its available.

Oh, and it seems Wired mag is saying this is the real photos of the thing. It will have wi-fi and you can buy it with or without a carrier (surprise….its Verizon!!!).

TV Moment of the Week

azand » 20 January 2010 » In General » Comments Off

There is no sense denying it. Some of us at the office for sure watch the Jersey Shore. That gif of Snooki getting punched got passed around the office more than one time…well we are an internet company! So anyway this week when Snooki appeared on Leno to answer 10 questions we were of course online the next day watching the segment online (I am not even going to get into the Leno thing here) and IM it around.

3D TV — Samsung brings TV to life

Want TV so real it comes right out of the screen? Then your moment has come last week at the International Consumer Electronics Show Samsung unveiled a 3D home entertainment system. They teamed up with Dreamworks animation and Technicolor to build it and the result is unbelievable. They are opening an app store that will allow users to download games and apps to their Samsung TVs, blue ray players even to their mobile devices. Also featured in their lineup were LED TVs with screens as thin as a pencil.

If you can’t wait for the home entertainment system to come out and need 3D now you can get it on new Samsung TVs. But be prepared, 3D still means wearing some dorky glasses.

Greetings from 2010

2010

Greetings. Its a brand new year and a brand new hope. At Plus Factory, we have grand dreams and ambitions for 2010, mostly with one word: expansion.

We are looking to branch out and grow from our current 25 global team to something much bigger. We are planning new offices in North America and other global locations. But the end goal is the same, to deliver outstanding service, projects, and products to our clients.

Here are some exciting things are we looking forward to for this year:

1. New Offices
Ok, so here is the word, we want to branch out in the United States. Our main offices are based in New York City, but we are looking to establish a west coast location before end of the year. I’ll be heading out to make some contacts and scout areas. In addition we already have a good presence in the midwest and look to solidify that location as well.

Internationally, I can’t speak too much but we have two new locations we are looking to establish as additional production facilities. One will be in Asia while the other will be in a totally new time zone. When things happen, I’ll report here.

2. Mobile
So end of the year, we’re really started to establish our mobile credentials. First were a serious of mobile to computer applications for events like MLB and Mountain Dew Winter Sport Games. Now we just completed our first mobile CMS (Content Management System) product for another client. In addition, we now have iPhone capabilities (David, who is one of our Technology Leaders, built the Ralph Lauren iPhone app while he was at Ralph Lauren Interactive. You can find it on the iPhone App store) and keeping an eye on the Droid and all Android phones (ie Google mobile OS).

3. Drupal
So, somehow, we got involved with one Drupal CMS project and now we got Drupal projects out the yin-yang. While we don’t consider ourselves a Drupal development shop (not yet anyways), we do have full Drupal capabilities. We will be continuing our development with this open-source CMS, as we have more Drupal projects in the pipeline for 2010. FYI – the White House site (http://www.whitehouse.gov) was built with Drupal, giving it instead cred and confidence to our Clients. If the White House can use it, “Yes we can” too.

4. Web Software (Products)
Ok, I have to admit a stumbling block we had in 2009. We were planning a launch of our first web service application for our clients but were never able to get out of Alpha. Product development is something that is hard to do, and we had many hurdles to go over. We are still aiming to launch this product this year and as soon as we do, I will announce it here. And we still have plans to build the other web service applications as well. Plus Factory don’t quit….(japanese voice) “we fight! fight! fight!”

5. Building on Client Relationships
Since our inception, we been lucky to work for certain clients, and more lucky to still have them as our clients. And we are now in the stage of our relationships where we are actively getting more involved in their organizations and becoming more and more value-oriented. What this means, we are helping them more and more besides offering ‘basic’ production/development/execution services. We are adding more strategy, tech consulting, and project planning to the mix. While this was never a planned thing, it makes sense with certain Clients, as we build a more symbolitic relationship with each other (ie their success is our success).

We look forward to keep on building more of these special relationships with future clients in 2010.

Well, this is a start. I wish everyone a great new year and look forward to speaking to you more throughout the year.

Best,
Warren Park
